Local12.com reported that the Walnut Hills High School marching band’s future remains uncertain as Cincinnati Public Schools attempts to settle a scheduling dispute that has drawn criticism from families. The issue resurfaced during a budget meeting on Monday, where it was discussed amid broader district matters.
Parents and supporters voiced concerns in early June after the band was allotted only one day per week for field practice, a reduction that limits the time needed for developing competition shows. One parent highlighted that Friday night flight practices, which span six to seven hours, are essential for focused development and questioned why the band is being asked to forfeit half of its field time for the upcoming school year.
Cincinnati Public Schools said it believes a solution is possible, but warned that until an agreement is reached, the marching band could be scaled back to a pep band and the color guard might be eliminated entirely.
