PAU HABER reported that the Pamukkale University Polyphonic Choir, led by Dr. Aykut Önder Sarıçiftçi of the university’s Department of Music Education, returned from Vienna with a first‑place award after performing pieces such as “Kerimoğlu Zeybeği,” “Başımda Altın Tacım” and the folk song “Estirir Oğlan Estirir” from the Teke region.
Following the competition, the choir and its conductor were hosted by the Pamukkale University Rectorate, where Rector Prof. Mahmud Güngör presented certificates of appreciation in recognition of their achievement, the report said.
The rector expressed gratitude to the ensemble for securing first place and showcasing Turkish culture at the Golden Hall, one of the world’s most prestigious concert venues, according to the source. He noted that the choir’s performance at the SCL International Youth Music Festival contributed significantly to promoting Denizli, Pamukkale University, Turkey and Turkish cultural heritage.
