Lima Area Youth Orchestra Performs Disney Concert for Students

The Lima Area Youth Orchestra hosted its annual children’s concert at the Veterans Memorial Civic Center, Hometown Stations reported. The performance, held in the Crouse Performance Hall, featured Disney classics and was attended by approximately 1,000 students from across the region, according to Hometown Stations.

The orchestra, supported by the Lima Noon Optimist Club and the Lima Symphony Orchestra, includes about 70 student musicians, Hometown Stations reported. Members range in age from kindergarten through high school seniors and travel from communities up to 40 miles away to participate, according to Hometown Stations.

Senior Landen Bacon, a three-year member of the orchestra, said he joined to play with string players, an opportunity not typically available in high school band, Hometown Stations reported. Director Joseph MacBenn said the program is designed to accommodate musicians of all skill levels and ages, including a kindergartener and 12th-grade seniors, according to Hometown Stations.

The Lima Area Youth Orchestra, established in 1968, provides performance and educational opportunities for young musicians, Hometown Stations reported. Applications for the 2025–2026 season are now available online, according to Hometown Stations.
