IK Multimedia has released the Brown Panel Signature Collection for TONEX, featuring 80 Tone Models created from nine American amplifiers manufactured from 1959 through 1963.
The Brown Panel period bridged the warmer Tweed designs of the 1950s and the cleaner, higher-powered Black Panel amplifiers that followed. The amplifiers became associated with surf, country, blues and early rock and are known for warmth, clarity, harmonic detail and dynamic response.
IK Multimedia designed the collection to cover clean sounds, edge-of-breakup textures, vintage overdrive and lead tones. The company cites sounds associated with Chris Stapleton, ZZ Top and Mark Knopfler as examples of the range represented by the amplifier era.
Nine Brown Panel Amplifiers
The collection includes models based on the following amplifiers:
- 1960 Concert Amp.
- 1962 Vibrolux.
- 1960 Bandmaster.
- 1961 Deluxe Amp.
- 1962 Super Amp.
- 1963 Vibroverb.
- 1960 Princeton 1×10 combo.
- 1961 Pro Amp.
- 1963 Vibrasonic.
Together, the models range from small-combo clean sounds to 1×15 response, smooth breakup and pedal-assisted lead tones.
Capture Process
IK Multimedia captured the amplifiers with TONEX V2 AI Machine Modeling through an SSL 4000G console. Dynamic, ribbon and condenser microphones were paired with the original JBL, Jensen and Oxford speaker configurations.
Selected complex rigs incorporate signal chains based on the Klon Centaur, TS9 Tube Screamer, Tube Driver, MXR Distortion+ and the 6G15 Reverb preamp section.
TONEX Compatibility
The collection can be used with TONEX software, AmpliTube, TONEX Pedal, TONEX ONE, TONEX ONE+, TONEX Plug and TONEX Cab, allowing the same models to move among recording, rehearsal and live-performance systems.

The Brown Panel Signature Collection is available through ToneNET and TONEX for Mac and Windows for $99.99 or €99.99. An introductory price of $79.99 or €79.99 is available for a limited time.
