Fine Arts Teacher (Pre K - 8)

Position Summary

The Fine Arts Teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, and assessing engaging fine arts instruction that promotes creativity, artistic expression, and student achievement. The teacher creates a positive learning environment that supports the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students while aligning instruction with state standards and school expectations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver high-quality lessons in fine arts, including visual arts, music, theater, or other assigned disciplines.

• Foster creativity, critical thinking, and artistic appreciation among students.

• Design lessons that accommodate diverse learning styles and student needs.

• Maintain a safe, organized, and productive classroom environment.

• Assess student progress regularly and provide timely feedback.

• Integrate technology and innovative instructional strategies into the curriculum.

• Prepare students for performances, exhibitions, competitions, and special events as appropriate.

• Collaborate with administrators, teachers, parents, and community members to support student success.

• Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance.

• Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school activities.

• Support school initiatives, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

• Valid Texas teaching certification in Fine Arts or applicable content area.

• Knowledge of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and state assessment requirements.

• Strong classroom management and communication skills.

• Ability to establish positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

• Experience teaching fine arts at the assigned grade level preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of fine arts curriculum and instructional best practices.

• Ability to motivate and engage students through creative learning experiences.

• Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a professional learning community.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the instructional day.

• Ability to lift and carry instructional materials and equipment as needed.

• Ability to supervise students in classroom and performance settings.
