TITLE of Vacancy: Elementary Teacher - Music

Location:  Black Hawk and Ridgely Elementary Schools

CONTRACT PERIOD: 180 Days

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator’s License, with elementary music endorsement

• Experience in music instruction preferred

• Knowledge of current curriculum, instructional trends, and school improvement process

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide developmentally appropriate and diverse instruction in music education, including vocal, instrumental and movement

• Establish and implement appropriate evaluation procedures for music learning

• Plan special events and performances that feature various musical forms and styles

• Arrange for field trips to enhance music appreciation when appropriate and available

• Work with teaching staff to correlate music instruction with other subjects and to address the school-wide focus areas

• Actively participate in appropriate professional development activities for staff

• Contribute as a team member and/or leader to all school improvement initiatives

• Maintain a classroom climate and management plan conducive to learning

• Communicate effectively with students, parents, the public, and staff

• Perform other duties as assigned

EFFECTIVE DATE:

First contractual day of the 2026-2027
