KGNS reported that a former music teacher from Laredo has pleaded guilty to federal child‑pornography charges and could receive up to 30 years behind bars.
Carlos Lechuga, 38, admitted in court that he created sexual‑abuse images of five girls who were his music students, ages ranging from six to 11 years old.
According to the report, Lechuga taught mariachi classes at a Phoenix school and gave private lessons at his home from 2013 through 2019, and he also held music courses at Texas A&M International University in Laredo.
Federal investigators uncovered the illegal videos on the dark web in December 2024, leading to his arrest. He has remained in federal custody since that time.
Lechuga faces a minimum of 15 years and a maximum of 30 years in federal prison, with sentencing set for September. If convicted, the statutory range is 15 to 30 years in prison.
