arkansasonline.com reported that former Jacksonville High School band director Kendrick Moore was arrested on a second‑degree sexual assault charge after police said he had inappropriate contact with a former student.
The Jacksonville Police Department said Moore turned himself in Thursday on a warrant and was released on his own recognizance, with a court appearance scheduled for Aug. 12, though court records were not provided to a reporter.
Jacksonville‑North Pulaski School District spokeswoman Cheesa Williams said district leaders are aware of the arrest and that Moore is no longer employed by the district, adding that officials have fully cooperated with the investigation and have urged families to share any relevant information.
The district previously announced in June that it was investigating accusations of inappropriate conduct involving a district employee and a former student, and said disciplinary action was taken on June 24. The employee had worked at Jacksonville High School and also filled in at Jacksonville Middle School earlier in the spring.
In June, the district urged current and former students with concerns—particularly high‑school band members since 2022, media‑team participants, and middle‑school band students from March to May—to contact police, and posted a job listing for a new band director on June 30.
Arkansas Department of Education records show Moore holds a state license to teach instrumental and vocal music, first issued in 2014 and valid through Dec. 31, 2030.
The police department asked anyone with information about additional potential victims to contact detectives.
